On Tuesday, November 5, 2024, the 60th United States Presidential Election was held to elect the 47th President of the United States, Republican Presidential nominee former President Donald Trump ran against Democratic Presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris. Uncertainty about which way the election was headed people around the country watched anxiously. In New York City, NBC News held an election night watch party for the public at Rockefeller Plaza. As the night went on supporters for Harris grew more anxious and emotional as supporters for Trump became jubilant at each state he gained pushing him closer to cinching the 27o electoral college votes needed to secure the election. In the early hours of the morning supporters of former President Donald Trump gathered in Time Square to watch a live broadcast of him delivering a speech at an election night watch party in Florida. The following morning, Wednesday, November 6, Rise and Resist held a rally outside the New York Public Library in reaction to Republican presidential nominee former President Donald Trump becoming President-elect. The rally coincided with Vice President Kamala Harris' delivery of a concession speech to which protesters reacted to during the rally.
