Following the controversial Dobbs v. Jackson's Women Health Organization decision on June 24, 2022 grassroot organization NYC for Abortion Rights mobilized in defense of abortion care providers through actions called Clinic Defenses that involve the physical blocking of anyone who who is anti-abortion from accessing the Planned Parenthood Clinic and its patients. One block away from the SoHo Planned Parenthood Clinic is The Basilica of St. Patrick's Old Cathedral where a pro-life organization called Witness For Life under the Archdiocese of New York leads a Rosary Procession on the first Saturday of every month from the Basilica down the block to the SoHo Planned Parenthood Clinic. The main organizer of these processions is Franciscan Friar Christopher "Fidelis" Moscinski who has become the head target of pro-choice counter-protesters anger during these events. These actions from both sides since May 7, 2022 have been ongoing till the present day with no end in sight from either group despite New York City Police Department interference.
